There are nights when I love to go out and have a thrilling night on the town.

But then there are nights where I would love to spend my evening sitting here (see any photo below) in about 70 degree weather while wearing a cute J Crew outfit with a fabulous cocktail in my hand and great music floating in the air.

A girl can dream.

I can’t wait for those nights but until then, I’ll be out on the town or out on my couch.

Happy Friday!

I love Chihuly. Like, a lot.

It all started when I saw his AB FAB ceiling at the Bellagio. It was love at first site. I could stare at that ceiling all day. So I was tickled when I heard he was going to have an exhibit at the Dallas Arboretum.

I saw it the other day when I was taking photos of baby Avery (scroll down to see that post) and I thought it was nice. BUT my world was rocked when I saw it LIGHTED last night after the Spazmatics concert.

Side note: If you live in Dallas or nearby I recommend you go to the Cool Concert series at the Arboretum. Bring friends, a picnic and your bevi of choice. You won’t regret it. You can buy your tickets online. Don’t waste your time trying to buy the Emerald City tickets because, alas, they are sold out. I know. I teared up about it earlier too. But lucky for you and me, they are playing in September. It will be glorious. There are some pics below from the concert so you get the feel including one of my FAV kissing pics that I’ve ever taken on my iphone of my friends Ruthie and Tyler. What a gorgeous couple!

Back to Chihuly, after the concert I was like a kid at Disney World- I was so giddy about the whole thing. I have the best friends because I made them pose in front of this big sun-curly-q ball while all these random people were standing around trying to get a picture too. I am sure I got looks.

Picture me with a bag of wine glasses (plastic, of course) on one arm, a big blanket over the over arm and an iPhone in my hands. It was a sight. I was taking random couples pictures, making them kiss and put their forehead together. At first I was thinking, they are probably so weirded out by me, but then they came over later and asked for another photo (not so crazy after all).

I just LOVED the Chihuly and am SO glad I got some photos so I can remember it. Forever. Go to the Chihuly, it is glorious.

Wisdom from Pinterest

I used to think I was addicted to Solitaire.

Then facebook came out and I became addicted to facebook.

Then came twitter.Twitter addiction.

Then google reader. Google Reader Addiction.

Then instagram. Instagram addiction.

Now it’s Pinterest.

Hi my name is Lori and I have a Pinterest addiction.

I have to manage my addictions to facebook, instagram, google reader and Pinterest…and it doesn’t leave much time in the day for anything else.

One of my favorite “boards” I have on pinterest is my “wisdom board” (if you aren’t on pinterest you won’t get it.)

Here are a few favorite quotes from that board:

I hung up my silverware chandelier  last night and feel super accomplished because I started this project a while ago…maybe a few summers ago. I saw a silverware chandelier at Canton and wanted to make one too.

So I started buying silverware at flea markets (anything over $.25 was absurdly expensive).

After I felt I had enough, I finally got the holes drilled in each piece and then my dad welded a hoop together for me. Then the chandelier kind of sat around for a while and acted as a wind chime on the side of my bar..or at least that is what tuckers tail thought it was.

But last night, I was determined to hang it. I went to Home Depot with Tucker in tow and met Jim. Jim was a huge help and even gave me an engineering lesson. It was kind of cute after he introduced himself  and I told him what I was working on he said ‘ok well, I am an engineer so bare with me.’ And a few anchors and test runs later I was out the door.

Now I decided to fly solo and by solo I mean I didn’t have my dad come over and I still haven’t decided if that was a good thing or not. I had to text him a few photos and after a few tries I got all the anchors flush with the ceiling. Then I somehow got each rope tied off and there you have it.

I am just waiting for this anchor to come out…

The package says it will hold up to 60 pounds but I think that is only true when you don’t make the bottom of the hole too big. Oh well! I will let you know if it comes down. I just hope it doesn’t fall in the middle of the night…That would be terrifying!

And of course there are Tucker photos…he was just being so cute and extremely supportive.

Time Needed

I’ve been out of pocket lately due to my busy season at work, taking care of a lost dog and just life in general. I’ll be back to blogging soon.

In the mean time here is some wisdom from Steve Jobs:

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma- which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

I finished the stain on my cart as well as the polishing up the sides. Now I just need to move it into my house and take photos to post it online. This thing is a chunk. You can see the push bar leaning on the garage to the right. It really comes in handy and will be sold with it. You never know when you might need a rolling cart that doubles as a coffee table!

I had garage sale a few weeks ago to inspire my family to clean out their houses …and to make a little cash. While doing that I fould these two vintage pink lamps that were my great grandmothers (Mamo- sounds like maa- maw) and just had to have them. I got the shades from target. I think the lamps look great and really add something to my second room. It usually looks pretty unorganized in that room (it is my creative room) so adding the lamps made me clean it up. I wonder how long that will last… Now I just need to decide how I want to handle those paintings behind the lamp…

Today is Tucker’s 2nd birthday and while I know it is super cheesy to celebrate a dogs birthday I feel this celebration is well worth it. I am so lucky to be able to celebrate his second birthday with him after all we have gone through together. I know he is just a silly dog to some people but he has taught me so many of lifes lessons.

For those of you who have never seen my blog before, Tucker was lost for a week last December and after a week of searching, I found him safe and sound at a sweet man’s house one street south of my house. It was an extremely rough week but through the defeat and frustration, I received so much love and support from my family, my friends, my neighbors, old friends and people I had never met. Tucker’s story (read it here) has had such a huge impact on my life and I am reminded daily of the love and support that is all around me just because of Tucker. I still have friends that will say: ‘We followed Tucker’s story the whole time, we are so glad he is back’ and ‘I have no clue how you survived that week, we were so worried about Tucker’ and ‘I had a slow day so  I re-read Tucker’s story on your blog.’

I am so thankful to all of you that gave me support then and continue to now. Tucker is a regluar old silly, sweet dog (who loves to destroy freshly sewn pillows) but he is a wonderful reminder of the love that is all around us.

Happy birthday, sweet Tucker. You have changed me for the better.
