30 hours in a day

I would be tickled if I could have 30 hours in a day. One of my biggest faults is that I want to do it all and be it all, all at once. When it comes to juggling a full time and part time career (as well as a life) trying to do it all is impossible. My to do list is constantly growing. The expression don’t bite off more than you can chew is applicable but I tend to twist it to my mouth isn’t big enough.

I am quickly learning to say no and to only choose what is really important to me…but it is still hard. Here are a few things I’ve been juggling lately…

I look forward to when I finally stop trying to do it all until then I’ll be off adding to my extremely long to do list.

Furniture redo

A little before and after to try and lighten the room from the dark couch. Next project (not including finishing the side table)? Cover those pillow with new fabric.

Spring flowers

I’m working on a flower arrangement for an event at work this Thursday and I’m dying over how pretty these tulips and ranunculus look together. 20130409-090048.jpg

Here is what my arrangement will look like. 20130409-090222.jpg

And it will hang like this…20130409-090310.jpg

Don’t you just love fresh flowers? I’ll post the final photos on Friday.

I’ve been in and out of photography course since High School. Each teacher tells me something new or reminds me of lessons lost. I’ve read many different books and text books but I have never been quite the reader that I wish I would be. Although, I have learned that pulling my nose of the book and trying to take the photos can teach you tons.

One book that I absolutely love and completely recommend for anyone who likes photography (or quotes) is Photosynthesis- A Simple Guide to the Magic of Photography by Bryan Moss.

It’s short, simple and to the point. It’s not heavy in content because he lets the photos do the talking.

He shares his photos and others photos. And they are all gorgeous. They are not posed engagements or something from a wedding but life. Real life. The pain, the beauty, the little moments…the kind of photos that make you feel something.

Here are a few insights that he shares (and I’m sorry, I have no memory of how to properly cite work and quotes so please know all of this came from Bryan Moss’ book that is mentioned above):

“We can define intuition. We can quote hundreds of famous people about its undeniable role in peak performance. But if we try to control it, it becomes more elusive than ever. “

“Often our favorite pictures are unexpected. Something happens that is totally unplanned and could not have been predicted. It’s important we don’t disable that serendipity.”

Here is what a couple pages look like…
